Formed from porcelain made from natural amakusa pottery stones and mixed with potter's clay, the appeal of Hasami Porcelain lies in its tactile feel on one's lips and clasped in one's hands.
Completely unadorned, its pure, clean lines echo the foundation of Japan's traditional shapes and forms. Its relevant contours are derived from the inevitability of function and its production process.
Made in Hasami, a ceramic district in Nagasaki, Japan.
3 1/4" diameter x 4 1/4" height
Dishwasher and microwave safe.
Born under the direction of Takuhiro Shinomoto, whose innovative concept integrates tradition and modernity in tableware. The size of Hasami Porcelain products are based on a fixed module. Whether they be mugs, bowls, or trays, they all share the same diameter so they can be stacked freely, stored, and transported easily. Multi-functional, for instance, a tray can be used as a lid. The inspiration behind the stacking mechanism, and the functionality of nesting, come from tiered boxes; traditional lacquer ware used in Japanese cuisine. Much like tiered boxes, Hasami porcelain is suitable for various scenes: indoors and outdoors, individually, and as a set.
