Kapital takes its name from the city of Kojima, known as the "Denim Capital" of Japan. The company initially developed its operations as a sewing and dyeing factory called Capital in 1984, but launched Kapital in 1996 after establishing a unique aesthetic that relied exclusively on denim products informed by vintage American production techniques. Now, with superior denim as well as a full range of designs in additional fabrics, Kapital is a mainstay of the Japanese fashion community.
