Kauniste launched their first collection of screen printed kitchen towels at the Helsinki Design Week in 2009, with the idea of combining the art prints of young illustrators into an every useful item such as the kitchen towel. This playful approach remains the essence of Kauniste goods today, and is combined with their dedication to craftsmanship which emphasizes high quality manufacturing and natural materials.
Their signature linen and cotton textile is made in Europe, from the spinning of yarn to the printing and sewing of the final product. Furthermore, their fabric production follows Oekotex standards, ensuring no harmful chemical residue on the textiles.
Kauniste's most recent endeavor is the opening of a new store in Tokyo where they collaborate with Japanese graphic designers, merging Finnish and Japanese ideas and aesthetics in a variety of contemporary home goods.
