Nobue Ibaraki's collection of earthenware works are all hand built with natural glazes that evoke buried treasure. No two works are alike. The metallic appearance is the result of the chemical reaction to the firing, obtained with glazes containing cobalt or copper and clays composed of other metals as well. Materials are sourced locally in Tajimi, Japan.
Ibaraki was born in Niigata, Japan, and studied Fashion Design at Bunka Fashion College and Ceramic Design at Tajimi Pottery Design and Technical Center. She has lived and worked in Tochigi since 2015.
