Maeda Mitsuru

Rice Scoop (Shamoji) American Cherry

Translation missing: en.products.general.regular_price $60.00
Details

A shamoji (しゃもじ) is a traditional Japanese rice paddle—a flat, oval-shaped utensil used to serve and fluff cooked rice. Typically crafted from wood, it’s designed to gently mix rice without crushing the grains, ensuring an even texture and preventing stickiness.

This particular shamoji is handcrafted by Maeda Mitsuru in his studio just outside Tokyo. The scoop is thoughtfully carved to minimize rice sticking, making it as functional as it is beautiful.

The wood is finished with a food-safe, plant-based oil. To keep it in optimal condition, we recommend reapplying oil as needed to prevent drying or chipping.
