Naturally Dyed Linen Gauze Hanging 04
Details
A one-of-a-kind linen gauze textile hand dyed with natural kakishibu (persimmon tannins), walnut, and sumi ink, creating an atmospheric blend of smoky gray, warm rust, soft brown, and ivory tones. The sheer, open weave allows light to gently filter through, revealing subtle variations in color and highlighting the quiet beauty of these traditional natural dyes.
Reminiscent of an abstract watercolor, the subtle layers of smoky gray, warm rust, soft brown, and ivory create a serene, painterly composition. The translucent linen gauze interacts beautifully with natural light, allowing the piece to change in depth and character throughout the day.
A delicate hand-stitched gauze patch adds an unexpected focal point, celebrating the Japanese philosophy of visible mending and the beauty found in repair.
Measuring 48" × 84", this large-scale textile makes a striking wall hanging while also working beautifully draped over a table, bed, or room divider. The lightweight linen has an airy, ethereal quality, with gentle wrinkles and tonal shifts that make each piece unique.
Handcrafted in Masayoshi Tajima's studio in Hachioji, Japan, this textile celebrates the quiet elegance of natural materials and traditional Japanese dyeing techniques.
Lifestyle images are provided for inspiration and illustrate possible uses as window treatments, room dividers, or wall hangings. The textiles shown in these installation photos are examples only and are not the actual pieces for sale.
