This skirt features a straight-lined silhouette inspired by traditional hakama, with front and back tucks adding volume. Select panels are cut vertically to reduce fabric waste. The waist is finished with a custom drawcord made in Uji, Kyoto, and all stitching—including overlock—is done using cotton thread. There are two side seam pockets.
Takashima Chijimi, produced in Shiga Prefecture, is made using a traditional technique in which strongly twisted weft yarns create a natural texture and stretch. This version combines hemp warp with organic cotton weft for added strength and comfort. The fabric is breathable, non-clinging, and maintains its texture over time without relying on synthetic stretch.
