Marimekko is an iconic Finnish textile, home furnishings, and fashion company founded in Helsinki in 1949. It all began when Viljo Ratia founded Printex, a small textile printing company, and his wife Armi Ratia founded Marimekko with her vision for a bold future for textile design and manufacturing. She invited young artists to create new and striking fabrics for the company, and the company steadily grew in the decades following to a globally recognized phenomenon.
