The metal artist Sakiko Sugimura creates small metal works using suction casting.
By making a mold, pouring liquid metal into it, and casting in a vacuum with a suction casting machine, it is possible to express fine details. These coffee scoops are made in aluminum.
Embroidery is applied to the wax mold by piercing the wax with a needle to prevent it from rising. Small patterns emerge and can be seen in the final product.
Then a string is attached, and a waxed string is threaded through it so that it can be hung.
