Vintage Japanese Handwoven Ramie Grain Sack with Indigo Repairs

Translation missing: en.products.general.regular_price $336.00
Details

Vintage Japanese handwoven hemp or ramie storage bag with extensive hand-sewn repairs. The lightweight open-weave textile has aged to a warm natural tan and features indigo cotton patches, woven mendings, and visible sashiko stitching accumulated over decades of use. Originally made as a utilitarian agricultural sack, it is now a striking example of Japanese mending traditions and wabi-sabi textiles. Beautiful displayed on a wall or draped as a sculptural textile.

Dating c. 1920s-1930s
