Hand-cast from bronze—an alloy of pure copper and pure tin known in Japan as "sahari"—this butter knife created by artist Sakiko Sugimura combines everyday function with sculptural beauty. The gently curved blade and slender handle develop a warm, natural patina over time, making each piece uniquely expressive.
Each knife begins as a hand-carved wax model, which is encased in plaster to create a mold. During firing, the wax melts away, leaving a cavity that is filled with molten bronze using the traditional vacuum casting method. By applying suction as the metal is poured, even the finest details are captured with remarkable precision.
Perfect for butter, soft cheeses, jams, or pâté.
Hand wash only.
