Details

Rare pair of antique Japanese hand-folded origami depicting the Emperor and Empress (Obina and Mebina) of the traditional Hinamatsuri (Girls' Day) festival. Dating to the late Meiji period, circa 1910, these charming paper figures are folded from colorful patterned paper with hand-drawn faces and retain the character and craftsmanship of early 20th-century Japanese folk art.

A scarce and evocative example of traditional Japanese paper craft, ideal for collectors of antique origami, folk art, and Japanese cultural ephemera.

Condition: Age toning, creases, minor soiling, and wear consistent with age. Small handwritten inscription on the reverse of one figure.
