Made by hand in New York using both vintage and locally sourced materials, local artist Samantha Verrone produces one of a kind pieces, short run home furnishings, and accessories that draw inspiration from Korean pojagi patchwork and Japanese layered boro cloth. She accepts the challenge of making something new from something that would otherwise be discarded. In employing the unique process of natural dyeing including rust and tannins, Samantha finds the beauty and value in decay. This slow and mindful process makes possible an ethical practice dedicated to embracing thrift and practicing sustainability, and results in objects of beauty suitable for everyday use. A portion of the profit is donated to local charities benefitting New Yorkers in need.
