This small ceramic plate is a creative take on mamezera, or “bean dish"—a traditional Japanese dinnerware essential that fits in one's palm. Slightly curved, it is perfect for organizing small items or displaying as a table decoration.
Made by Japanese brand Classiky in collaboration with Kata Kata, a Tokyo-based husband-and-wife team that works in dyed textiles. Each dish is handcrafted following a traditional technique known as inbante, which involves printing patterns on washi paper then transferring them onto ceramic ware. Because of this process, each piece is unique and has its own distinct tones and characteristics.
