A beautifully simple vintage Japanese drawstring bag made from handwoven cotton and dyed with kakishibu (fermented persimmon tannin), a traditional natural dye prized for its rich earthy tones and protective qualities. Years of use have given the fabric a warm, mottled brown patina that highlights the character of the natural dye.
The bag features a hand-braided cotton drawstring and an unlined, lightweight construction. Originally intended for carrying everyday personal items, rice, or small tools, it now makes a wonderful collectible or decorative textile that embodies the Japanese appreciation for humble materials and honest craftmanship.
