This Japanese color sample book dates to Showa 12 (1937) and features a carefully arranged palette of dyed fabric swatches, each labeled in Japanese. Originally produced as a reference for textiles or garments, the book presents a wide range of hues—from deep indigo and charcoal to vivid reds, greens, and softened earth tones—offering a rare snapshot of prewar Japanese color sensibility.
The printed cover and bound format reflect the graphic design of the early Showa period, while the interior fabric samples retain their richness and tactile quality. Pieces like this were working tools, not souvenirs, and surviving examples are increasingly scarce.
Condition: Light foxing, edge wear, and minor handling marks consistent with age. Swatches remain vibrant and securely mounted.
