A traditional working knife crafted from simple, natural materials. The handle is made from a section of bamboo, left with its natural node and a small winged protrusion for grip. A flat, hand-forged steel blade is bound to the handle with plant fiber cord—a classic technique used in rural craft traditions across Japan.
This tool would have been used for everyday tasks: shaving or splitting bamboo, preparing materials for basketry, or small agricultural work. Its form reflects a resourceful, no-waste approach: practical, unadorned, and made to be repaired rather than replaced.
This item shows rust and wear consistent with its use and age.
