Introducing MAOTA, a new brand for Moth.  MAOTA was established by Masaaki Ota in 2020 with a dedication to sustainability and craftsmanship above all else. 

MAOTA focuses on slow, visible production and the quiet beauty of craftsmanship. Using high-quality Japanese yarns, each piece is made close to the mills and workshops where it begins—designed to last, evolve, and be worn for years to come.

The fabric of this unisex jacket looks like denim—but technically, it isn’t. Its unexpected texture, lightweight feel, and depth of color set it apart. Woven from five yarn-dyed threads, the surface reveals a richness and subtle variation that give it a truly distinctive character.

The greenish-blue hue is inspired by the fleeting shade of genuine indigo—the moment just before oxidation transforms it into its familiar deep blue. A fabric that captures both tradition and surprise, ideal for garments that balance structure and ease.
