Maki Textile Studio based in a beautifully restored farmhouse west of Tokyo, works with weavers at their Ganga workshop in the Himalayan foothills to produce finely-woven textiles. Working with a variety of natural fibers such as tussar silk, mulberry silk, muga silk, wool, cotton and linen textiles are handwoven and coloured with all natural dyes. The Ganga Maki project addresses the core tenets of a progressive craft industry, with both innovation in design and sensitivity to the human condition.
